What is Automation? [In 120 Words]

What is Automation: Using a set of preprogrammed workflows to convert a manual task with consistent and repeatable steps into one which a computer completes for you.

Example: Creating a Customer Invoice

The manual process typically requires several steps which are repeated every time you create a new customer invoice. These include finding, copying and pasting a number of data points into a document template.

Automating the process involves programming a set of predefined logic into your database and document template so that specific data fields are automatically populated.

The result: Information entered once into your database automatically generates an invoice you can send to the customer.

That is automation. Significantly less time-consuming than all that copying and pasting.
